Hi there! I'm an Old Lady (52)! But I really have no problem with being old, I like it. I've played a few instruments (clarinet & drums in high school), created hundreds of mixes for no one but myself, have my own Mariachi Band as a hobby where I play a Mexican Vihuela, but I don't feel I have much talent. It's just really fun! So whatever I can learn I will be grateful for. Thanks!

Hi I have no idea what is going in this class so far:) I'm a singer and dancer. I produce a working cover band. I play a little bit, too. I've never tried mixing. I do dancing that would make it seem like a good mix would be within my ability. So far, though, I have to admit, this recording process requires more patience than am I used, too:) I work with guys that look at a piece of music (charts) for maybe ten minutes, if at all, and I have to keep up. Same with dancing, I spend 20 minutes learning a 2 minute piece of advanced choreography. This is like a whole new life; but, I need one:)

Allo! I'm Lauren in Dublin.
I only joined this course today.
I'm a guitarist, singer, songwriter. I also play a bit of bass and some percussions too. I play keyboards badly (but getting better!)
I perform solo and with backing band and i'm currently recording my debut album.. the stuff is kind of rock...
I'm not so great with computer recording software (i still use an old digital 8 track machine) so i think this course will be interesting.
Looking forward to getting to know this lil community of ours. xx

Yey, women are da best! Bit of a newbie here, who grew up in my dad's sound engineering business, so I have a lot of exposure, but, no working knowledge. I'm hoping my killer math and music brain will ease into this stuff!
What did you ladies think of the sound tester vid? I have some great headphones that my dad sent me for my birthday the other year. I finally get to test drive them, and they're REALLY good at picking up lots of sound.
The article on frequency response seemed interesting, it made me want to know the specs on these headphones.
The science and math of sound vid by Vi Hart was right up my alley- sound is such an incredible thing!

I watched part of the live interview. It was funny. Apparently, the highly successful, award winning music producers don't practice their microphone technique very often. You couldn't hear, hardly, a word they said. It was a great way to start the day. I was rolling around on the floor laughing. What instrument do you play or are you a chorus teacher?

I agree. I think the assignment this week is the interview, listening to the songs, downloading the mixer, the machine graph thing, and looking at the tiles. Did I miss anything?
