Approaching This Course
We'll be sending you emails approximately once or twice each week over the next 10-12 weeks presenting you with new content and sharing some of the great work your create here at PWYM. As mentioned before we see this project as more of a community rather than a traditional course, so feel free to make your way through the content at your own pace and in your own ways. The overall structure of the course can be found on our Curriculum page and is outlined here:

Module 1: Learning How to Listen - Find your crew, and dive in to the creative production processes of Sledgehammer and In Your Eyes through exclusive live interviews with Kevin Killen and Jerry Marotta.

Module 2: Listening for Timbre and Space - Learn how to listen for sound placement and perceived space; apply that to your favorite songs and share your analysis with the PWYM Community.

Module 3: Listening for Musical Structure - Learn how to listen for musical structures such as form, time, tempo, texture and layering in recordings. Apply that to your favorite songs and share your analysis with the PWYM Community.

Module 4: Musical Archeology: Mixing Peter Gabriel Multitracks - Step inside the multitrack stems to Sledgehammer and In Your Eyes. Reverse engineer the recording process, and match a static mix using balance and panning. Create your own creative static mix and share with the PWYM Community.

Module 5: Introduction to Creative Audio FX - Learn how to reverse engineer many of the classic 1980's Peter Gabriel effects from Audio FXpert Alex Case using custom mix-minus-one tracks in Soundation.com.

Module 6: Remixing Peter Gabriel - Learn how to create and edit audio samples from your favorite songs and Peter Gabriel's multitrack stems, as well as how to create simple MIDI loops and beats that work with your audio samples. Create your own remix of Peter Gabriel's tunes and share it with the PWYM Community. Look forward to a special live interview with Larry Fast.
