I am in to most EDM with some exceptions. Dubstep is definitely one of the genres of EDM I like to listen to. I am here to learn more about making music in order to make EDM of my own. One of my favorite quotes about art,
"A true artist breaks the rules, but in order to break the rules artistically you must first know the rules." -Unknown
I feel that Dubstep breaks a few rules but the real masters of the genre break those rules within the other rules. This prevents the genre from dissolving into a mass of screeches and wobbles and becoming non-musical. Just my two cents. Please dissect this thought and tell me if I'm way off here.
