About video games and games in general
I let myself do a little digression - is there anybody who has ever meet with the problem of the sound itself in the virtual space? I mean, as the graphic engines are getting really stunning and the development is really quick, the sound engines are still poor - based on quick and simplified algorythmes, don't include beam tracing or waves effects. If you are a game enthustiast you can compare the acoustics in "Last of us" with any other video game - it's better, but still not as good as it can be. I used to play and watch loads of games and I was always annoyed about the gap between what I see and what I hear, moreover, how the producers don't realize how important the sound is for better experience.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFjPIZTXKkQ in my university this project is being realized - if only I were better programmist... You can check if you want, for non - engineers - it shows the method of tracing, including the materials, cubature, acoustic parameters... Looking forward to hear your thoughts!
