David Gates and / or Bread. David Gates Biography David Gates was a successful rock singer, songwriter and producer throughout the sixties and seventies. His music with Bread features the highest production values with liberal use of double tracking, self harmony, efficient use of effects to create a tonal space and great use of equalization to allow each instrument it's own space.

Keb Mo'. Keb Mo' Biography His music is current and contemporary with much of his past work recorded in house.

Marty Stuart. Marty Stuart Biography Marty Stuart is a successful pop. country and bluegrass singer, songwriter and producer. He is also a traditionalist with a keen ear for making what's old sound relevant in today's world.

Bjork is one of my favorites

I'm so glad this class is still going. It's on my level. As far as, what artists I think we should work on. Strong accurate singers that don't need a lot of fx to mend their vocals. For beginners, that seems logical. The same with instrumentalists. Obviously, electronic inflected, in this day and age is a necessary to know how to work with. I'm not really familiar with a lot of this software; but, in dabbling around recently I find the piano sounds to be the only truly usable. The guitars, bass, horns are awful. I guess, those are the one's you have to buy or better yet hire. Bjork loses me solo; but, I love The Sugarcubes. That sounds hard for beginners because of the non-traditional form. Bread, I like, I prefer Bad Company, but, I don't really care. Marty Stuart, wow,dude!

I'm curious about the production of various genres. I like to learn from what is considered industry standards. What are some of the industry standards in your favorite genre?
